Formal Seal progress
I'm still in the thick of freelance contracts, but I've been very slowly bringing "Formal Seal" into existence over the past few weeks. He's a ways off yet but he's getting there. (24" x 30" oil on canvas)

New embossings: fish and flowers
Some 4"x6" copper pieces I made this week for tomorrow's Sin City Crafters event at Rocket Bakery, downtown St. John's. Should be a great event! Get the details here.

Gibbet Hill painting, progress 2
Here's another progress pic of the Gibbet Hill painting. Doing lots of layers with this one. Still a ways to go but getting there. When the rock highlights come into focus it should really pop.

Gibbet Hill painting progess
Gradually bringing this Gibbet Hill painting to life. Using a pic from our recent walk up Signal Hill (I used photography as my excuse for frequent breaks). Mainly blocking out shadows at this point. Early stages.

Walrus progess
I've been picking away at this guy for the last few days. The first shot (top) is where he currently stands. The shot below (with lots of purple) is the underpainting I started a few months ago. Still a ways to go but he's getting there. Snout needs more work... and whiskers!

New Hava Java show
Just installed a new show at Hava Java: paintings and prints by myself, Nick Kokis and Kathryn Welbourn. If you're in downtown St. John's, drop by and check it out!

Hava Java show
I've got some paintings and linocuts showing at Hava Java's The Tower Corporate Campus location (that's the former Littledale facility on Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's). If you've got some business down that way, drop by and check them out! Nine pieces total including "The Daily Squawk"... should be up for the next month or so.

Newfoundland Gothic
My cartoon for the recent issue of the Northeast Avalon Times... pick one up if you're in the area! It's normally greyscale but I thought I'd add some colour for the blog.

Book Guardians oil painting
In a further effort to blow the stink of computer off me, I painted these gargoyle bookends tonight. Crude but colourful. Big bold strokes. Nothing but fun. Oil on 18"x24" canvas.

Rusty toy truck
I've been preoccupied with pushing pixels lately but I'm itching to paint so I set this up as a possible still life subject. It's a cast iron toy truck, once owned by my uncle. He was a body mechanic and had a great collection of toy cars. Visually, I like the splashes of rust but I'll be cleaning it off before I put it back on the shelf.

Cod Liver oil vintage ad
I took advantage of yet another sleepless night to play around with a vintage ad (circa 1880s) as a possible 2-colour t-shirt design. The graphic shows an option for a light colour shirt and one for dark. I love the line "Palatable as milk" (though they had me at "hypophosphites").
